Apple Pie McDonalds Style

Instructions Prepare the Dough:  In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and sugar.  Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your hands to mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Make the Filling: In a medium saucepan, combine the diced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.. Cook over medium heat until the apples begin to soften, about 10 minutes.

Assemble the Pies: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the dough into rectangles (about 4x6 inches).

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).

Carefully add the pies to the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar while still warm.
